About Vigneux de Bretagne

The existence
of Vigneux/ La Paquelais dates back to the Romans around 840 AD. There are
still traces today of a road built during this time and milestones en route to
Trellieres. Today, the municipality
of Vigneux, which is
growing at a steady pace (around 5000 inhabitants today) can be proud of its
many diverse sports and cultural activities. In fact, there are some 56
associations offered to the local inhabitants.
Vigneux has a long history of farming in the community and although this sector has somewhat depleted over recent years, as throughout all rural areas, there are still many local farms today which have modernized their methods in order to ensure the future survival of agriculture in this area. Vigneux and surrounding villages are also well situated for small and local businesses which are close to the city of Nantes, close to the expressway linking Nantes to the coast of Brittany and close to the route to Rennes. The development of activities should also help to develop more employment locally long-term. Nantes is only 2 hours by train (TGV) from Paris and many cities in France are accessible direct from Nantes.

- 20 kilometers from the centre of Nantes
- 50 kilometers from the sea
- Both Vannes and Rennes are easily accessible to Nantes
- Nantes Atlantique airport is only 20 minutes from Vigneux
